About the Kamenstein Ceramic and Cork Garlic Keeper
Several heads of garlic fit in this ceramic jar, 4 inches across and 5 inches tall. Holes in the bottom let air reach the bulbs from underneath. The cork lid is curved, so the loose cloves you already broke off can sit in its dip on top, ready for the next pan. The same curve takes a second container stacked on it, which helps in a crowded cabinet. Choose terra cotta, red or teal ceramic, each under a natural cork lid. Give it a damp-cloth wipe when papery skins collect inside.
If you are filling the same corner, look at the Ceramic and Cork Stackable Canisters, Set of 3 too: three stacking ceramic canisters with cork lids: 1/2, 1 and 2 qt.
Key features
- Holes underneath: Openings in the bottom let air move under the garlic.
- Curved cork lid: Holds loose cloves on top, or another container stacked on it.
- Small footprint: 4 inches across, so it fits beside the stove or on a shelf.
How to set it up
- 1
Put whole heads of garlic inside.
- 2
Set the cork lid on top.
- 3
Keep loose cloves in the lid dip.
- 4
Shake out the papery skins now and then.
Where it goes
On the counter beside the cutting board, or on a pantry shelf.
Onions and garlic want dry air and their skins on, potatoes want the dark, and the two are better kept apart.
