About the Kamenstein Traditional Glossy Battery Grinder
Hold it by the waist, press the button on top with your thumb, and the ceramic mechanism inside starts turning. Your other hand stays on the pan, so nothing from the cutting board ends up on the mill. It runs on six AAA batteries, which you buy separately. The body stands 10 inches tall and 2.75 inches across, with the curved outline of a hand-turned peppermill and a glossy finish in white or black. Fill it with peppercorns or coarse salt, and since it grinds only while you press, the amount is set by how long you hold the button. Keep it next to the range during cooking and carry it to the table for dinner.
You may want the Glass Salt and Pepper Grinder Set beside it: two glass grinders, white and black tops, filled with salt and pepper.
Key features
- One button, one hand: Press to grind, release to stop. The hand holding the spoon or the raw chicken never has to touch the mill.
- Peppermill shape: The tall turned profile of a wooden mill, in glossy white or black plastic that stands out on a counter.
- Ceramic mechanism: Ceramic does the grinding, so coarse salt can go in as well as peppercorns.
- Battery power: Six AAA batteries drive the motor, so there is no cord on the counter.
How to set it up
- 1
Open the battery compartment and fit six AAA batteries.
- 2
Fill the chamber with peppercorns or coarse salt.
- 3
Hold the grinder over the food and press the button on top.
- 4
Release the button when you have enough.
A grinder with a built-in battery goes to a battery recycler at the end of its life, not into the trash.
